Join us in Mangaweka on State Highway 1 for our legendary annual community garage sale weekend. Every Labour Weekend, local residents, artists, and collectors open their Garages, driveways and car-boots to share unique treasures, art, vintage finds, excess household goods and bargains for travelers and locals alike. Starting Saturday 24th through to Monday 26th, from 9am to around 1pm each chosen day. A FREE Map will be provided for buyers to browse through over the weekend! What is the Mangaweka mega garage sale all about?

The Mangaweka mega community garage sales are a much-loved annual tradition held over the Labour Weekend national holiday. Participants across the township AND surrounds (from Hunterville to Taihape) are invited to run individual garage sales or car-boot sales directly from their properties, offering everything from collectibles and artwork to household bargains to buyers travalling the district.

When is the event taking place in 2026?

The 2026 event takes place across Labour Weekend, starting on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Sales run from 9:00 AM to around 1:00 PM on any or every day of the long weekend. Sellers simply choose which day or days they want to run their sale/s. Buyers simply follow the map for locations and times etc.

How do buyers find where sales are located?

A free printed map listing all registered participant locations will be provided for visitors and shoppers to easily navigate every garage sale across town. Buyers simply follow the map (both printed and online here) for locations and times etc.

Can local residents and collectors still register a stall?

Yes! Local residents, artists, and collectors are warmly invited to sign up. To register your garage location or car-boot stall, simply send your contact and location details to mangawekagallery@xtra.co.nz There is a limited offer of around 3 sites for out of towners to pitch there stalls in the Mangaweka "Yellow Church" Gallery grounds. $10 pers site per day. First booked first served. Thanks : - )

Is there an entry fee to attend as a shopper?

There is absolutely no entry fee for visitors. Shoppers, families, and road-trippers passing along State Highway 1 are welcome to explore all open stalls FREE of charge (best to bring good old CASH though for any purchases!).
